Government Contracting, SAM and WOSB
Valerie Coleman is a Procurement Center Representative (PCR) and Commercial Market Representative (CMR) with the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Office of Government Contracting in Fort Worth, Texas. She has a post-of-duty station at JohnsonSpaceCenter. She has been in this position since August 2000; however, on March 6, 2013, she began her 40th year with SBA. She is a former contracting officer with over 900 hours of education in the government contracting field and holds a Level III certification.
In her capacity as PCR, Val is charged with working with various government agencies to ensure the largest possible percentage of contract support to small businesses which include NASA, the VA, Corps of Engineers and Corpus Christi Army Depot. In her capacity as CMR, Val reviews large businesses to ensure that they are meeting their goals working with small businesses. She also conducts outreach on all of SBA’s programs with an emphasis on government contracting. Target audiences are those individuals designated as disadvantaged, women, veterans and any others wishing to do business with the federal government. When not performing the above duties, Val handles size determinations and Certificates of Competency.
Val has received numerous awards for her work with small businesses including those from the White House Conference on Small Business by President Clinton; National Contract Management Association, National Council of Contractors Association; National Association of Minority Contractors; United Way and many more. Val has one son, David, who is an Air Force veteran and is currently working on his Master’s Degree in Microbial Ecology.
